Mazzoni Group Agriculture Sector
The Mazzoni Group agriculture sector is strongly focused on fruit and vegetable and nursery productions. The farms owned by Mazzoni cover a surface area of about 2000 hectares over an extensive area of the Ferrara province.
The different soil and climatic environments that distinguish each production area allow many vegetable and fruit species to be grown in environments ideal for achieving the best quantitative and qualitative performance.
Vegetable cultivation
Vegetable crops cover a surface area of about 700 hectares. Of the major crops, the production of carrots, potatoes, tomatoes and garlic excels.
All vegetable crops are cultivated following the integrated production rules of the Emilia Romagna region and are then certified, in terms of healthiness and quality of the product, according to the most stringent standards required by the international large-scale distribution channel. In some cases they are also certified with the European mark of Protected Designation of Origin (PDO),as in the case of the PDO Voghiera Garlic.
Fruit cultivation
The fruit crops cover a surface area of about 200 hectares and they include the production of Apples, Pears and Apricots.
All productions are certified according to the strictest industry standards and are marketed with the most important brands in the fruit sector (MelaPiù®).
Crop rotation
In the crop rotation, the Group farms cultivate cereals, oilseeds, sugar beet, peas and other crops on a surface area of about 1000 hectares.
